TRIVIA
- Steve McCartney played Lady Bracknell, a role traditionally assigned to a woman.
- The part of Miss Gwendolen Fairfax was originally to be have played by Denise Chamberlain (Seen in Behind The Scenes photographs here), but sadly she passed away on the dress rehearsal night, using the old adage “the show must go on” the director Sandy Atkinson went on with a book.
- During the first performance, a butterfly came onto the stage. The cast believed it was the spirit of the late-Denise Chamberlain as she loved butterflies.
- Simon Ballard, a professional composer and a friend of the group, gave his permission for some original music he composed “A Warwickshire Suite Op. 67″ to be used as incidental music throughout the play, the same music was used again when the group recorded an audio version in 2008. In fact Simon himself had played Algernon in a previous production when he was younger.
